In order to replace old growth drivers with new ones, further publicize Qingdao International Academician Park and strengthen foreign investment, exchanges and cooperation, the “New Growth Drivers and New Engines”-themed 2018 Qingdao International Academician Port Project Investment Promotion Conference was held in Shangri-La Hotel in the morning of May 7. The conference collectively recommended over 100 academicians having signed contracts with the academician park. Contracts for 10 projects were signed on site, with the contract amount of nearly 3 billion yuan. Liu Jianjun, deputy mayor of the People’s Government of Qingdao, and Wang Xijing, Secretary of the Party Committee of Licang District, attended the conference and made speeches.

The attendees included 19 academician teams lead by Wang Yutian, a member of the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada, Chen Pu, a member of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Seeram, a foreign academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a member of the Indian National Academy of Engineering and a member of Academy of Engineering, Singapore, Jacques Rougerie, a member of Académie des Beaux-Arts, Zhou Shouheng, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Sang-hyub Kim, a member of Korean Academy of Science and Technology, Yuan Longping, etc., more than 180 enterprises including BASF SE, CASC, CETC, Jigang, CIMC and other Fortune 500 enterprises and top 500 Chinese enterprises, the China 100-Board Secretary Conference Forum, and relevant departments such as the municipal development and reform commission, the municipal commission of economy and information technology, the municipal finance bureau, the municipal state-owned assets supervision and administration commission, the municipal science and technology bureau and the municipal federation of industry and commerce. 

During the promotion conference, the People’s government of Licang District signed contracts with Shandong University of Science and Technology, Jigang Group and Weifang Medical University; the Academician Seeram Project signed contracts with Vancoo Commerce Internet Industry Co., Ltd., Hebei Orient Sundar Window Industry Co. Ltd. and Qingdao Junada Technology Co., Ltd.; the Academician Sun Dawen Project signed a contract with CIMC Cold Chain Co., Ltd.; the Academician Ma Ding silicon nitride ceramic joint prosthesis project signed contracts with LITHOZ and Qingdao Bridge Ocean Ceramic New Material Technology Co., Ltd. Qingdao Tonghou Investment Management Co., Ltd. and Qingdao International Academician Park Assets Management Co., Ltd. jointly initiated an industrial foundations for academician projects. 

The promotion conference exhibited the latest products or scientific research results of 19 academicians. 

Academician Chen Pu set up NanoPeptide (Qingdao) Biotechnology Ltd. which devotes itself to development of new biopharmaceuticals and creates internationally leading precision siRNA medical products. Academician Chen Pu’s project successfully screened new target points of siRNA drugs for treatment of carcinoma of the rectum for the first time. At the same time, it screened multiple effective siRNA anticancer drugs. 

During the promotion conference, Academician Chen Pu said that there’re many stomatology products and we should take market factors into account during research and development of products. In fact, consumers are indifferent to product technologies but pay more attention to product effects. Therefore, NanoPeptide will launch a very effective stomatology product—Shukoutai™ Antibacterial Mouthwash—in July or August. This mouthwash can effectively shorten the treatment and recovery cycles. 

Academician Chen Pu explained the siRNA anticancer drugs and NPs of the project in detail. The project aims to develop new biopharmaceuticals by nanotechnology, devotes itself to research and development of internationally leading precision siRNA medical products and provide targeted gene-based drugs for cancer treatment. At the same time, the project develops efficient low-toxic nanopeptide drug delivery systems for targeted treatment of multiple diseases. Our team will center on polypeptide technology, develop products with a disinfection product number and a healthcare product number and form a market position which centers on delivery reagents and takes multiple derivative products as the growth point. We will strive to complete the first preclinical research of new anticancer drugs and acquire the approval for their clinical use in 3 years, develop 5 to 10 targeted gene-based drugs in 5 years and become a listed enterprise on the second board in 5 to 6 years. 

During the promotion conference, Academician Chen Pu reported to and communicated with Liu Jianjun, Deputy Mayor of Qingdao, and Wang Xijing, Secretary of the Party Committee of Licang District. Academician Chen Pu said that the main reason why he chose Licang is that the government attaches importance to it. The People’s Government of Licang has given lots of support. The one-to-one support given by the government has facilitated understanding of the local market and environment for the academician teams in the academician park from foreign countries and other regions of China and fully guaranteed that enterprises can carry out scientific research work better.
